Image Metadata Cleaner & EXIF Remover
Use our image metadata remover to create cleanly re-encoded PNG, JPG or WebP copies without copying common EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP and text metadata from the source file. Process multiple images and download them individually or together.
PNG is the recommended default when you want to preserve transparency and avoid deliberate lossy compression. Keep your original files because re-exported images may lose specialised colour profiles, print settings and other source information.
What does the image metadata remover do?
The tool loads the visible image in your browser and creates a new file without copying common metadata from the original.
Multiple image uploads
Drag and drop up to 20 JPG, PNG or WebP files and review each image before processing.
Fresh image encoding
Creates a new image from the browser-rendered pixels instead of copying the source file directly.
Common metadata removed
Common EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP and text metadata are not copied into the newly encoded file.
Optional resizing
Fit the image’s longest edge to your selected size without enlarging smaller images.
Before and after preview
Review the source and re-exported result, dimensions and file sizes before downloading.
Individual or ZIP download
Download one processed image or place all successful results into a single ZIP file.
Common embedded information not copied
The exact data in a source image depends on its format, the device and the software used to create it.
Choose your cleaned image format
Each output format handles image quality and transparency differently.
Recommended default
Preserves transparency and uses lossless image encoding. PNG files can be larger than compressed JPG or WebP files.
Smaller photo files
Uses lossy compression. Transparent areas are placed on your selected solid background colour.
Efficient web images
Uses compressed output and can preserve transparency in supported browsers and applications.
Supported images and file limits
These limits keep browser memory use controlled while processing multiple images.
How to remove image metadata
Process and download cleaned copies in three steps.
Add your images
Drag and drop supported image files or select them from your device. Review the attached previews.
Choose output settings
Select PNG, JPG or WebP. Adjust quality, background or resize settings when needed.
Process and download
Create newly encoded images, compare the results, then download files individually or together as a ZIP.
Images are processed on your device
The Image Metadata Cleaner uses your browser to inspect, re-encode and package the images. It does not use an AI provider or upload the images to a WordPress processing endpoint. Files and results are cleared when you remove them or leave the tool.
What the cleaner does not guarantee
Re-encoding does not remove visible or invisible watermarks and does not prove that an image was created by a person. It cannot guarantee that Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or another service will remove or avoid an AI label. Platforms may use metadata, visible signals, invisible watermarks, fingerprints or other detection systems. Follow attribution, copyright, disclosure and platform requirements that apply to the image.
Create cleanly re-encoded image copies
Add multiple images, choose an output format, remove common embedded metadata and download the new files.
Frequently asked questions
What is image metadata?
Image metadata is information stored inside or alongside an image, such as camera details, capture settings, dates, GPS location, software information, descriptions and comments.
How does the metadata cleaner work?
It loads the visible image in your browser and creates a newly encoded PNG, JPG or WebP file without copying common metadata fields from the source file.
Can I process multiple images?
Yes. You can add up to 20 supported images, subject to the individual and combined size limits.
Which output format should I choose?
PNG is the recommended default for transparency and lossless encoding. JPG can create smaller photo files but uses lossy compression. WebP offers efficient compressed output.
Will the new image be identical to the original?
The visible appearance is retained as closely as the browser export allows, but the file is not byte-identical. Colour profiles, print settings, high-bit-depth precision and compression may change.
Does it remove GPS location data?
Common EXIF and GPS fields are not copied into the newly encoded result. Keep in mind that the tool does not inspect every possible proprietary metadata format.
Will it remove an AI-generated label?
There is no guarantee. A platform may use metadata, embedded credentials, watermarks, visual analysis, fingerprints or information from the upload process when applying a label.
Are my images uploaded?
Processing runs in your browser. The tool does not use an AI provider or a WordPress image-processing endpoint.
